St. Colette of Corbie (1381-1447) was a French reformer of the Franciscan Poor Clares, who lived in the tumultuous times of the Great Western Schism. She became famous throughout Europe for her miracles, and very popular among the people, especially the poor. Her Colettine Poor Clares were known for their extreme poverty and perpetual fast. Still, she was a friend even to high and mighty lords and dames, and even Popes. She attended two Church Councils, Constance and Basle, and with her advice and prayers helped to end the Great Schism. Yet, she always saw herself as a mere tool of God, the source of all good, and wrote: "We can do nothing by ourselves without the aid and grace of God. We can neither do good nor resist our enemies."
